According to counsel for Corellium, David L. Hecht of Hecht Partners LLP, "The DMCA was created to stem the rising tide of the pirating of movies and video games" and "isn't designed to deal with the intricacies of the uses of software."

In an opposition to Corellium's bid for summary judgment, Apple said Corellium's sale of its copyrighted operating system, iOS, for non-Apple hardware is a "flagrant copyright infringement and a violation of related 'anti-trafficking' laws."
